For 36 years, the Jingle Bell Fun Run has been a fun, lighthearted way to kick off the holiday season in College Station. This year, College Station Parks and Recreation is putting a merry twist on the event with a new 1.5-mile route. The untimed run takes place Saturday, Dec. 5, and runs along the parade route ahead of the College Station Christmas Parade, which begins at 4 p.m. Line-up starts at 3 p.m. at 810 Holleman Drive East, and the run begins at 3:30 p.m. The course ends at the entrance to Christmas in the Park at 1000 Krenek Tap Road, where the evening’s festivities continue from 6 to 10 p.m. The early entry fee is $15 and includes a shirt and jingle bells if you register by Nov. 17. The cost is $20 during the Nov. 18-30 late registration period. Jingle bells are included, but you aren’t guaranteed a shirt. Participants 3 and under are free. Dogs are not allowed. Packet pickup is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2-3 and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Stephen C. Central Park office. Race day parking is available at Post Oak Mall (old Macy’s side), where shuttles will run from 3 p.m. to midnight between the mall and Central Park. Registration: Aug. 3-Nov. 29
