About Discover BCS
Discover BCS started with a question every family here asks: “What can we do around here?” The answer exists — Bryan–College Station has more for families than most towns its size — but it is scattered across dozens of calendars, websites and Facebook pages. This site gathers it into one place: events, classes and groups, places to go, field trips, and a few longer guides.
Who it’s for
Families with children, of any age. Much of what happens here happens during school hours, so the site pays particular attention to weekday-daytime activities, standing classes and field trips — which is what makes it useful to homeschooling families in particular, without being a homeschool directory.
How listings work
- Every listing links back to the organization. Check their page before you go — dates, times and prices change, and we do not run any of the things listed here.
- A person reads every suggestion before it is published.
- Listing is not endorsement. Something appearing here means we think a family might want to know about it, not that we vouch for it.
- Sunday listings. We generally leave Sundays free of commercial events, reflecting our desire to encourage families to set the day apart for worship, rest, and time together. Church, community and family events on Sundays still appear on the calendar; meal deals and other offers are listed Monday–Saturday.
Who is behind it
A local family who wanted an easier way to find what is going on in the Brazos Valley, and figured other families did too.
