Brazos County's animal shelter offers Inspiring Tails Tours: a one-hour, behind-the-scenes look at the care pets receive when they arrive, with stories about animals and the programs that rescued them. Useful for animal care, shelter work, adoption and fostering, and responsible pet ownership.

- Tours are by appointment only: Savannah Gaines, [email protected] or 979-775-5755 ext. 110. Contact the shelter to arrange a homeschool or group visit and to confirm ages, group size, and whether children may handle animals — don't bring a large group during public hours (Mon–Fri noon–6 p.m., Sat noon–5 p.m.). Adults can also take a shelter dog out for the day through Dog Day Out.
