Bridges To Life -- Bryan
A volunteer-led restorative-justice program inside Texas prisons. Locally it runs at the Hamilton Unit in Bryan, under the Waco Area #2 / Bryan region. Adult facilitators meet weekly with incarcerated participants for 14 weeks on accountability, confession, forgiveness, restitution, and the effect of crime on victims. The organization describes the program as faith-based but not religious: the materials use Bible references and speak of God's love, and people of any faith or none are welcome.
How to help
Adults can facilitate a small group (about two hours inside the unit each week, plus travel and preparation) or come once as a crime-victim speaker. Prison volunteering requires Texas Department of Criminal Justice approval and a four-hour training, then Bridges To Life training. Start with the Bryan-area coordinator.
