During the Civil War, civilians turned into soldiers but only a small part of the experience was battle and travel. Drilling was part of the daily routine for the Civil War soldier. Through repetition and practice, soldiers became accustomed to orders, battle formations, rifle positions, and loading procedures. All were essential to surviving on the battlefield. When soldiers were not drilling, they attended camp chores. During their little free time, the soldiers would play games, sing songs or write letters home. Stop by the Museum of the American G.I. on September 12th & 13th to interact with and observe Civil War Soldiers as they go about their daily routine. Camps will be open: 10 AM - 5 PM, Saturday, September 12 10 AM - 3 PM, Sunday, September 13 This is an outdoor event that is included with museum admission.
